The serpent’s silver tongue is a loaded gun tangled in the sheets
Where our souls collide with the words that slide right between our teeth
And with a tasteless kiss on our careless lips we take what we can get. Another shapeless face in the shameless race to live without regret
For love has always been a guessing game
and city starlight shines as we march in Lines to find ourselves again
Replacing one vice with the other to forget where we have been.
As creatures of the night we find comfort in the moonlight’s lonesome song
Where our demons are set free to fly with wings of the darkest shades of gray
So the whiskey burns as we take our turns to dance with misery
Then Danny says to me, “well, maybe she’s the one to make you see That no one’s ever all they hope to be
and it’s godlessness we learn is best to Help ourselves believe
So let’s open another bottle and we’ll drive away defeat.”
I know we are all just fugitives of someone we loved that we cannot forget.
Now the sun is rising somewhere above our heads. I guess we lost track of time.
I know we are all just killing time.
Until the minaret of circumstance brings us to our knees
And we’re praying to an emptiness that makes us feel complete.

Solomon's War
03:56
|
|||
I've seen everything there is to see from upon a throne
But the meaning behind it all was far too small
Let's raise the stakes because I’m wide awake
I'll keep tossing and turning till I see the light of day
My mind is a swinging pendulum caught in a snare
My body's a shipwrecked vessel in need of repair
To me it's all just the same as I try to find my way
through the thickening air I keep waiting for a spark
To light my way through the dark.
So wash your eyes in the light and come on outside.
All the trees of the field are growing higher towards the sun
Until the war was won
And all the rivers run into the sea but they'll never make it full
There is nothing new under the sun, shadows only tell us of our time
All is vanity
My eyes are not satisfied with what see through this door
My ears are refusing to listen anymore
Yet with the eyes of a dove you look down upon me
Till the madness and folly fill my heart all up with grief
Oh how I long to be free

The Gift of Regret
04:58
|
|||
In castles made of mother's sheets
We found all our joy in the make belief.
Convinced that every dream would come true
We're taught there's nothing lurking beneath our beds
we made it up from within our heads
And brought them to life
The walls get thinner as we speak
The fields we knew as children become concrete
No success we yield.
So the lesser part of me’s getting cold
While the better part of me starts to fade
I feel the phantom’s breath brush upon my skin
Tonight, I'll leave the lights on
Between our futures and our past
The distance travelled turned out way too fast
The punchline still remains.
We found the monsters in our heads are real
The gift of regret will linger on
Forgo what we once knew
With bated breath we get our fill
The diamonds in the rough are sparkling still
There's nothing left to find
So the lesser part of me’s getting cold
While the better part of me starts to fade
I feel the phantom’s breath brush upon my skin
Tonight.
The deeper part of me starts to drown
The shallow part comes up from the ground
The sunlight on my face has turned from red to gray
Tonight, I'll turn the lights off.
On my own To the unknown
Oh how we used to find such joy
under the summer sun we'd make believe, we'd make believe

Cauldron of Doubt
04:58
|
|||
We could lie beneath a house of sticks and wait for it to fall
Put the blame upon the winter breeze that chills us to the bone
These footsteps always remind me
Of when we followed our inhibitions
A trail of crumbs towards our demise
Forgive us of everything we have done
Carbon frames and porcelain faces
We are both human after all
My own chivalry in battered armor mounted on a foal
Crumbling stairs and lofty prison cells are all you've ever known
As we make our way through the forest
Witches surround a cauldron of doubt
Casting their spells upon the weak
We can hold our breath and wait for each and every star to fall
Like the shattered pieces of a crystal ball
Won't you let down your hair and when will I find you there
My banner is waving, high up above my head
the sound of the breeze is crashing right into my opened ears
With the blades of grass beneath our sandy feet
we settle down, while all the trees become our crown
Laughter echoes through the crooked walls we built
In a far away land, we'll flee the invisible hand
where every step that we take will be our home
We could lie beneath a house of sticks and wait for it to fall
Put the blame upon the winter breeze that chills us to the bone

Snow Angel
04:53
|
|||
She fluttered like snow above my head
Without gravity tethered to her wings
Hearts weathered and worn she flew through the yard
Abandoned winter coats left beside the door
For they would only weigh us down
With words in my mouth that froze to my tongue
And our icicle dreams clung to barren trees
Naked and stripped of all dignity
Towering branches we had failed to climb again
Aspiring still to overcome
The heights from which we fell
Frosty panes of glass sheltered us from the frigid dawn
If only our desire was enough
Eloquent goodbyes that fell on deaf ears
And her frostbitten nose pressed against my skin
She lingered there I felt her hesitate
We wrapped ourselves in the arms of forgiveness too
shivering in the glistening silence
Desire itself is not enough
Frosty panes of glass sheltered us from the frigid dawn
If only our desire was enough

At the Edge of the World
05:34
|
|||
Only the finest lines distinguish hope from fear
As the sun and the moon they whisper sweet farewells
And the crest of a wave is my only friend
To ferry me back to shore again.
Again, again, I'll sail again.
Now the stars up above are waking from their sleep
And though they seem to be the facade behind which heaven lies
I surrender myself to the dance of time
Where darkness and light are endlessly entwined
Again, again, again we'll sail again
We can choose to believe the world isn't round at all
so we don't have to raise up our sails, anchored firmly below
A broken sailor in a storm with nothing to lose at all
Can we remain on course to find another land?
Oh, Won't you distill in me
a willingness to fight before I wither away into an endless night?
Oh, the depths to which I would go
or the heights to which I'd fly to find a key with which to free myself.
So I have tied myself to the mast of fate
I'm at the edge of the world and i'll never let myself come apart
Only the tempest suggests which way to go
As I rise and I fall with the ebb and the flow again, again, again
We can choose to believe the world isn't round at all
so we don't have to raise up our sails, anchored firmly below
A broken sailor in a storm with nothing to lose at all
Can we remain on course to find another day?
Only the finest lines distinguish hope from fear

Byzantine Hearts

Byzantine Hearts
A crowded subway train trembles under the weight
Avoiding weary eyes of strangers that hesitate,
The sound of emptiness, how it fills the awkwardness,
And nurtures loneliness until we can arrive.
Chasing the laughter down the platform through the gate,
A storm came rolling in and lured her from my gaze.
The air electric while the threat looms overhead,
With colored canopies we braved the acid rain.
Swallowed our indifferences for the sake of being safe
Lips pressed against the hope of finding anyone
To make me feel the same as I did once before.
But all these byzantine hearts are waiting, waiting for the sky to fall.
Every little bit you.
Silhouettes and traffic lights sulk in abandoned streets
We wander down the path we have come to know so well.
The sound of voices whisper, gathering around our feet.
A round of thundering applause echoes through the night.
Apologetic souls coiled at the water's edge
And no one gives a damn about what you hope to do.
you're only remembered for the things you choose to do.
But all these byzantine hearts are waiting, waiting for the sky to fall.
Every little bit you.

Nothing Left to Lose
04:18
|
|||
He said, 'yesterday's a memory that's fading, as each grain of sand slips through the hour glass.
Withering away the sharpest edges carved in granite and passion fades with compromise.
Our aspiration brings us to the peaks of towers,
And we claim our humble piece of cluttered sky.
Till this stream of consciousness against which we've been swimming.
Sweeps us away for the last time.
And someday I will leave without a sound.
I'm taking nothing with me to the ground.
Oh can't you see my nightmares coming true?
As we get lost among the mazes just looking for a better view.
And now the lines once defined all become a blur
So we keep shuffling our feet till we collide.
Cause it's two steps forward and one step back to discover all the things we lack,
Frankly, I'm tired of playing by somebody else's rules.
Oh and we're hard pressed to close the gaps between dotted lines engraved on maps and what
we have to gain becomes the truth.
And now this ice on which we tread gets temperamental, closer to the warmth of coming spring,
Yet it satiates the urge we have to lose some control,
And brings us close enough to death to feel alive.
And someday i will leave without a sound.
I'm taking nothing with me to the ground.
So we prance around this masqueraders ball,
We argue with our magic mirrors 'bout who's the fairest of them all.
There's no sickness equal to the pill of apathy,
And how can we love if we've got something left to prove?
So then he raised his glass and he said, 'here's to you. And here's to all the expectations that
we've yet to live up to.
You can live your life in fear of what they say,
But I sure as he'll don't hate what I've become.
I'm an old man, I'm a worn man.
An all the pieces of my heart have come unglued.
here at the Gatling gun revival,
We only hope for our survival
And thats Ok cos we got nothing left to lose.
We're most dangerous when we've nothing left to lose.
